- Please read this first -

 

Prior to the release of entrance examination details to the public, some of the important information will be given as follows.

 

1) Examination schedule

 

<Summer examination>

• 2020 Masterfs Program (April enrollment)       August 27 (Tue) and 28 (Wed), 2019

• 2019 Masterfs Program (October enrollment)    August 27 (Tue) and 28 (Wed), 2019

 

<Winter examination>

• 2020 Masterfs Program (April enrollment)       February 6 (Thurs) and 7 (Fri), 2020

 

2) Distribution of Application Guidelines and release of information on the Internet

 

<Summer examination>

Distribution of Application Guidelines for the following entrance examinations and release of the relevant information on the website are scheduled to start on May 24 (Fri), 2019 or after.

• 2020 Masterfs Program (April enrollment)                    

• 2019 Masterfs Program (October enrollment)

 

Application Guidelines are partially posted on the website, while an original certified copy is required to be obtained for actual application.

It is available at the Academic Affairs Section of Sciences, or you can request one by mail alternately. Details of the mailing request will be notified at a later date.

For applicants living outside Japan, please ask someone living in Japan or consult your prospective thesis advisor at the University to obtain the copy.

 

<Winter examination>

Distribution of Application Guidelines for the following entrance examination is scheduled to start on October 1 (Tue), 2019 or after.

• 2020 Masterfs Program (April enrollment)

(* Please note that the Application Guidelines for the winter examination are identical to those for the summer examination.)

 

Application Guidelines are partially posted on the website, while an original certified copy is required to be obtained for actual application.

It is available at the Academic Affairs Section of Sciences, or you can request one by mail alternately. Details of the mailing request will be notified at a later date.

For applicants living outside Japan, either ask someone living in Japan or consult your prospective thesis advisor at the University to obtain the copy.

 

3) Cases where application eligibility needs to be examined beforehand

 

Please note that some categories of students (e.g. adult working students, early admission students) are required to have a prior consultation or undergo an eligibility screening before applying for the entrance examination.

Applicants are advised to promptly obtain the original copy of graduation diploma (or certificate of expected graduation) and academic transcript from the last school attended, as they are necessary for the eligibility screening. Details of the eligibility screening procedures will be posted on the website at a later date.

 

<Application periods>

    Summer examination:

Individual applicants, adult working students, early admission students, and physically disabled students who need special consideration

> June 27 (Thurs) – July 4 (Thurs), 2019

Applicants who wish to take the written examination in English

> June 20 (Thurs) – July 4 (Thurs), 2019

Winter examination:

Individual applicants, adult working students, early admission students, and physically disabled students who need special consideration

> November 7 (Thurs) – 14 (Thurs), 2019

Applicants who wish to take the written examination in English

> October 31 (Thurs) – 14 (Thurs), 2019

 

4) English language proficiency score

 

In the Graduate School of Science, all departments excepting the Department of Mathematics require submission of an external test certificate (TOEIC, TOEFL, or IELTS) in substitution of the foreign language examination. Those who plan to apply for the entrance examination are recommended to take an external test as early as possible. Submission details at the time of application will be notified at a later date.

 

<Important reminders>

The score of any one of the external tests is valid: TOEFL (TOEFL-iBT), TOEIC Listening & Reading Test, or IELTS Academic Module.

The score of a group test, such as TOEFL-ITP, TOEIC-IP, TOEIC speaking test/writing test, and IELTS General Training Module, is not acceptable for application.

Submit one of the followings within the application period.

> TOEIC: Official Score Certificate (original)

> TOEFL: Test Taker Score Report

* gTest Taker Score Reporth should be either a photo copy of the original paper score sheet sent from ETS or a printout of the score from the gMy Home Pageh on the ETS web site. An Applicant who chooses to submit a TOEFL score must bring his/her original Test Taker Score Report (sent out by mail from ETS) on the day of the written examination. Test fee includes 1 free Test Taker Score Report to be sent to the test taker. Please note that, however, the report will be mailed only if you have selected gOnline score report AND a paper copy mailed to youh on the gScore Reporting Preferenceh page when registering for a test. (As of February 2019)

> IELTS: Test Report Form (original)

The validity period of a language proficiency score is within 2 years before the month of the entrance examination. Therefore, the score of an external test taken in and after August 2017 and in and after February 2018 is valid, respectively for application for the summer examination and the winter examination.

5) Others

 

Applicants living outside Japan require individual support for application.
